I make no claim to be a great railway photographer, but have nevertheless managed to amass a collection of more than 10,000 35mm slides since 1982. Having seen how transparencies can deteriorate over time, I bought a Canoscan FS4000 film scanner a few years ago with a view to preserving them digitally. However, I soon found what a time-consuming job it was and gave up! But now with the incentive of being able to make them available for anyone to view (should they want to), rather than continue to gather dust in a cupboard at home where no-one can see them, I have for the last 18 months been slowly working my way through them to create collections organised on a largely geographic basis, with the exception of one collection devoted entirely to Class 50's.
Pictures taken before Sep 82 have been scanned from negatives, some of which have deteriorated significantly in colour saturation. I may replace these with flat-bed scans of prints instead.
I am now populating the Plandampf collection and the final collection currently planned is of locations in what I define as 'Wessex' - Berkshire, Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire and Somerset.
I hope you find something of interest!
